Tyre Nichols was killed by neocolonialism. Neocolonialism is the imperialist foreign domination of a people indirectly through control of the economy and social system using members of the dominated people as administrators. (White power in black face.)
The International People’s Democratic Uhuru Movement (InPDUM) is a global organization of African people building for Black Power and the democratic rights of African people. InPDUM understands that Black lives will only matter when we get Black Power.
InPDUM was formed in 1991 in defense of the African community against the counterinsurgency campaign that was waged us by the US and other colonial (and neocolonial) governments. The motto of InPDUM is “The highest form of democracy is self-determination.”
InPDUM’s platform, the Revolutionary National Democratic Program, moves us as African people from a defensive position to the offense.
The murder of Tyre Nichols was an attack against Africa
Tyre Nichols was a casualty in the colonial war against African people and African liberation. This campaign is 600 years old. We must understand it as such. This informs the way we need to move. Those black cops who brutally murdered Tyre are no different than black soldiers sent to invade African countries.
For the first time in its almost 250-year history, the United States Marine Corps promoted an African to the position of four-star general. This same African now heads the US Africa Command (Africom), leading the assault on the Africa.
Memphis’s Scorpion Team is merely a mini-Africom.
On July 29, 2022, the same colonial state that is waging war against Africa and killed Tyre Nichols assaulted the InPDUM and the Uhuru Movement. The FBI, another expression of the colonial state’s military power, attacked seven offices and homes of the Uhuru Movement. The home of our leaders Chairman Omali Yeshitela and Deputy Chair Ona Zene Yeshitela was attacked with armored, assault rifle-toting, tank driving federal agents.
Laser beams were point at their chests. DC Ona was almost hit in the head by a government drone.
This was the most significant assault against the African Liberation Struggle since the African Revolution of the 1960s.
This is all part of one united struggle. When we say Hands Off Uhuru! Hands Off Africa!, this includes Tyre Nichols, Mike Brown, Breonna Taylor, Sandra Bland, and every African killed by the colonial state.
Black Community Control of the Police is the way forward
InPDUM’s Black Community Control of the Police campaign is outlined in the Revolutionary National Democratic Program. Adopt the RNDP and build Black Community Control of the Police working groups where you are.
The below is excerpted from the RNDP:
“We demand African community control of the police in our oppressed and exploited communities in the domestic colonies of North and South America, the Caribbean and Europe.”
“We demand African community control of schools, police, and all the institutions of coercive colonial state power that wreak perennial havoc within our colonized community.”
“We demand the immediate withdrawal of the terroristic police and military troops from the African Community and their replacement with African liberation forces whose struggles in defense of our community against our oppression demonstrate their loyalty to our community and their willingness to serve in its interest.”
“All military checkpoints must be removed – all policies allowing for extortion of money (sometimes under the guise of traffic tickets) by colonial and neo-colonial police, armies and governments at checkpoints and the demand for identification papers specifying ethnicity, address, warrant status and other colonial categories must be ended. Such police, armies and governments include the various U.S. and European police forces, the paramilitary death squads in Colombia, the neo-colonial South African police and the neo-colonial army of Sierra Leone.”
“We call for the establishment of committees of workers, peasants and students to control the appointment of police officials, legal and penal authorities.”
“We recognize that the justice systems of North American and European domestic colonialism function as a tool of colonial domination of African people and demand immediate transformation that includes…A transparent, internationally-supervised investigation of every police killing of an African person within the last 10 years and every controversial police killing of an African regardless of the time that has passed since the killing, with police found to be guilty of murder to be duly punished within the full capacity of the law and reparations paid to their families.”
“We demand an end to the public policy of police containment and military occupation of African communities and countries worldwide which are implemented under the guise of war on terror, drugs, gangs, etc. We demand their replacement with a public policy of economic development through massive capital infusion that would be used to uplift the entire community by supporting existing African businesses, establishing new African businesses, including cooperatives and the overall industrialization of Africa and African communities which promotes the needs and interests of our oppressed and exploited communities, thereby contributing to the general self-reliance of the African community.”
