providing a report on the last year's activities and the strategic
direction for 2010!
Working Groups to include:
* Murder by the State and Justifiable Homicide - panel of experts and
family members of police brutality victims to discuss justifiable
homicide rulings in police shootings.
* The Plebiscite on Self-determination - in this workshop InPDUM will
initiate the effort to establish a plebiscite, or a voting process
through which African people can democratically decide as to whether
or not we should be a free and self determined people. During this
workshop Africans will have the opportunity to join the national
committee to establish the plebiscite.
* They Say Cutback We Say Payback! - Budget cuts and the Struggle
Against Them:
In this workshop InPDUM will unite the people in opposition to the
nationwide trend of U.S. budget cuts that are attacking the people's
access to essential services like libraries, healthcare facilities,
swimming pools and schools. We will also expose the budget cuts as war
budgets - part of imperialism'sstrategy to weaken the effects of its
deepening economic crisis at the expense of African and other
oppressed people. The goal of the workshop is to consolidate a
national committee to overturn the relationship African people have to
the budget process - trillions for economic development and
reparations not police containment.
* The Impact of Prisons on African People: 2 million Africans are
currently locked up in a US prison. 1 out of 8 young African men is
locked up. Through this workshop we will expose the economic basis of
the mass imprisonment of African people and build a national committee
to free our people from behind bars!
* The conditions of Labor and Union Organizing: African labor built
and continues to sustain the US economy. Whether in the factories,
plantations, offices or the prisons we never see the value produced
from our labor. As the current economic crisis continues to deepen,
African labor is being exploited more and more. In this workshop
InPDUM will unite with labor union organizers and other
representatives of organized African labor to protect the interests of
African workers. We will also initiate the process of building the
national committee for organized African labor.
