Template for Character Reference Letters for Ajamu

The following is an example sample letter to write to the Judge (address below). Letters should be handwritten.

My name is __________________ (optional) and I am calling from __________________________ (required). I am calling/writing on behalf of Orlando Gibson. Orlando, having grown up in poverty and having had run-ins in the past with the law, had, since his release, surpassed the demands of the State by immediately becoming an exemplary member of society. He immediately rescued his son, Quazil Gibson, from foster care, being granted full custody of him. After working jobs that couldn't adequately support him and his son, he became a full-time licensed peddler, becoming a full-time student at the Art Institute in graphic design soon after. On October 9, 2008, he married his wife, Cassandra Floyd-Gibson, and began the process of consolidating his new family by submitting his request for transfer of parole to Florida. These are not actions indicative of one who was looking to go backwards, but instead are actions of one who was moving forward. I am pleading with the court to show lenience in the sentencing of Orlando Gibson.

I want to express my outrage at the continued attacks on Constitutional Rights to Free Speech and Political Association made by the entire City of York on the African community; particularly those attacks that have been directed at Orlando, local president of the International Peoples Democratic Uhuru Movement, and the other on-the-ground organizers defending these rights to free speech and political association. The City of York is saying loud and clear that it is above the "law of the land" and that African people can only expect these rights if they don't challenge and expose the deep-rooted corruption in the highest levels of government in the City of York. I demand the immediate release and dropping of all the bogus and unfounded charges against Orlando Gibson, and the immediate end to the terror tactics being used by rogue York City Police and their stooges against the local York-InPDUM organizers that are simply taking advantage of the rights guaranteed them by the Constitution of the United States. HANDS OFF ORLANDO GIBSON; HANDS OFF YORK-InPDUM!!!!
